Review :: Joe Fresh Nail Polish (Swatches included)

For today's post, I thought I'd try something which I haven't done in great extent before - a review. I picked up a few nail polishes from Joe Fresh and after trying them out, I wanted to share the awesome, not so awesome, and everything in between about these polishes.

Hope this gives you some insight if you were considering purchasing some nail polishes from the Joe Fresh line!

Have a great weekend!

Blueberry

Orange Sorbet

Buttercup

Price/Quantity/AvailabilityCDN/USD $4 or 3 for $10 at 6 ml/bottle
While this initially seems like quite a reasonable price - I'd like to point out that each bottle only contains 6 ml of product. Compared to an average bottle of nail polish containing approximately 15 ml of product, Joe Fresh's nail polishes no longer cut it as price-friendly, in my opinion. They are available only at Joe Fresh retail stores or within Joe Fresh departments at the Real Canadian Superstore; online shopping on Joe Fresh not available at this time.

Quality : Lasting power + Opaqueness
Its lasting power was one of the best that I've tried (and I've tried a lot!). I was able to wear all three for about 4 days without any chipping (used with a topcoat, of course). However, its opaqueness is a bit of a tricky one to answer, as they varied for the 3 shades I had. For Blueberry, I had no problems with it, as it applied evenly and opaquely. Buttercup however, applied unevenly and I had a hard time getting it to be opaque without making the entire nail streaky and uneven. As you might be able to see in my picture above, the corner of my ring finger is slightly uneven. As for Orange Sorbet, I found this texture much different than the other two. It dried completely matte, even though it doesn't say its a matte shade, but it will finish shiny once a topcoat is put over.

Colour Selection
Joe Fresh's nail polish selection is honestly what drew me to it when I saw the rack in the store. While they do have a generous amount of shades available, what really drew me were the types of shades. It wasn't just the availability of shades, but it was how different a lot of the shades are. As you may have probably already guessed, I do have my fair share of nail polishes, so it can sometimes be a bit boring for me when I see the same old blues, greens, and pinks. Joe Fresh had a number of shades that were very different from what is usually available.

Design
While these little bottles are extremely cute and oh so tempting to purchase on the design alone, it actually doesn't do anything to help with its functionality. The brush head is much to top heavy that it makes applying the polish a little tricky. I know I'm nit-picking here, but hey - this is a review, right? ;)

Overall: 8/10
I am willing to overlook the downfalls of this product to purchase more unique shades. While I definitely would not pick up generic shade such as black or white, I feel that there are quite a few shades which can't be found in other brands - a major plus! However, the only two things I took off 'points' were its design and the price to quantity ratio. If I could remake them, I'd still keep its cute round bottle style, but increase the quantity and make the brush head less top-heavy.
